Purpose

I have been “playing around” with ISPConfig3 for a while now, learning some of the in’s and out’s, and now it is time to build my first production, hopefully, system.

This document illustrate the process, mainly to keep track of what is being done.

I am essentially following the documents on HowtoForge for a CentOS 7.3 Minimal Server and The Perfect Server for the ISPConfig3 portion. By default, these documents build everything on one server and we won’t change that either.

System Specifics

  1. For my system, I will be using two IP addresses. You can add the second IP during installation, or once the installation is complete see CentOS — Add IP Address.
  2. My systems never directly touch the internet, so i generally disable the system firewall and disable selinux immediately after installation. This allows me to connect via ssh instead of at a console. After the disabling of the firewall and selinux, I then complete the Minimal Server how to.
  3. I run in a vmware environment, so once the minimal server is complete, I install the vmware tools.
